Where to Check-In and Check Out the Conference Championships in Houston

After what was arguably the best weekend of football in the history of the NFL, the Conference Championships are set. San Francisco heads to the fancy new SoFi Stadium in LA to take on the Rams for the NFC Title and the Bengals will visit Arrowhead Stadium in KC on the AFC side. As entertaining as the divisional round of the playoffs was, what are the odds the Conference Championship games will live up to 75 percent of last weekend’s hype? I’d say very slim, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find a good spot to post up and enjoy the action, enjoy some brews and food, and more importantly, keep an eye on your bets. So, let’s take a look at some of the best spots around Houston (and the surrounding areas) to hit up with your friends and watch the games.

  1. Big City Wings
    • Who doesn’t love a great wing joint? Weirdos, that’s who, and you don’t need people like that in your life. With 12 locations around Greater Houston, there’s probably one within an easy drive of where you live.
  2. Little Woodrow’s
    • With eight locations around Houston and one out in Beaumont (not to mention Austin, San Antonio, Lubbock, and Midland), the food menu can vary from location to location, but each one has some great offerings, and of course, there are plenty of drinks.
  3. Lucky’s Pub
    • The old location in EADO is gone and it’s still sad to see when you drive or walk by, but the Lucky’s brand is alive and well off I-10 on the west (some call it “The Best”) side of town.
  4. Over/Under
    • This one is for my folks toward the southeast side of town, unless you don’t mind a drive, which is worth it! A great neighborhood bar in Webster with Baybrook Mall not too far. So, if the girlfriend/wife is wanting to know what’s in it for her, take her shopping for about an hour, then get to Over/Under and grab your spot before kickoff! Oh, and make sure you get the mozzarella sticks to go with your meal!
  5. Pier 6
    • This one is definitely a drive unless you live down in the Clear Lake/League City/Kemah area, but another one that checks off some boxes if the date wants to go somewhere other than a “bar”. Pier 6 is an awesome spot for food where Chef Joe Cervantez has put in so much to build an addictive menu, and the drinks are awesome too! Honestly, one of the best margaritas I have ever had. Not only will it give your girl (or guy) a chance to put on something a little nicer (jeans are still okay), but the setup they have is a “must see,” including the giant wall of a TV they have on the second level.
  6. Saint Arnold
    • For those craft beer die-hards, I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. Hell, for most of Houston I’m not telling y’all something you don’t already know! Saint Arnold’s outdoor spot with the big TV and plenty of room for the kids to be amused or to bring your pup is one of the best places in the city to watch games! Amazing craft beer, a menu with enough options that you have all of next football season planned, and an awesome view of downtown.

Obviously, I could have named a whole bunch of other places to consider, but I don’t have time to write all day, I have a shed to paint (no not a joke or a metaphor). There are so many great spots around our city, you will definitely be able to find a spot to post up and watch the Title Games and enjoy some great food and drinks, just be safe and don’t drink and drive.
